Who We Are

The YLDP organization was founded in 2008 by a group of Houstonians of Indian origin (Indo-American) to address the leadership gap in our community locally and nationally, specifically in the areas of Business/Entrepreneurship, Government/Politics, Social/Culture/Art and Charity/Philanthropy. The community leaders also had a keen sense of instilling service/volunteerism within our High School teenagers to give back to their local community.

The program has flourished from its humble beginning with 9 students enrolled in 2008, adding the Science/Technology theme in October 2011, YLDP has progressively increased student enrollment from initial 9 to over 40 in 2013, to currently 59. The mission of this non-profit organization is to help the students of Junior and Senior High School classes from all Greater Houston Area who apply for the program and are selected based on the criteria for the leadership program and their year-long commitment. The organization is lead and served through a voluntary Board of Directors.
