Eligibility Criteria:
- Must be a high school Junior or Senior
- Indo-American living in Greater Houston area (Indian Parentage)
- Good communication skills (verbal and written)
- Availability & Flexibility for the program per the schedule
- Passion for leadership
Other Key Information:
- Screened applicants will be invited for an interview
- Decision of Selection Committee is based on academic, extra curricular and leadership activities of the student (application & interview), and their decision is final.
- Program dues are $ 250. Students who need financial assistance should send a letter of request to YLDP Program Director to be considered for scholarship.
- Students must maintain 80% attendance, and missing tow consecutive sessions without notification terminates the membership from the program.
- Must RSVP to program event notifications in time (within 2 days)
- Responsible for their own transportation
- Need to comply with the general school protocol and safe behavior on field trips and in sessions
- Parent participation and support is encouraged at student presentation sessions
- Events will be held once a month, usually on Saturday mornings for about three hours
- Service program (volunteering and internships) will be during the summer holidays
- Graduation from YLDP requires full participation in monthly events and service program
- Any variations in attendance and service program have to be agreed upon with the Service Program and YLDP Program Directors
